Louisiana

Louisiana is a Gulf Coast state and is America’s only state that has political subdivisions known as parishes (local governments that are basically like counties).  Jefferson Parish is the mostly highly populated parish and Cameron Parish, largest land parish.  The state has a strong influence of African, French and Spanish cultures which gives it a pretty multilingual and multicultural heritage.  This is also due to its history, since the territory of today’s Louisiana State was a Spanish and French colony prior to the American influx.
