New Orleans

New Orleans is a principal port in America as well as being Louisiana’s largest city and metropolitan area, having a populace of 1,189,981, making it the country’s 46th largest area.  Historically, the name New Orleans comes from Philippe d’ Orléans, Duke of Orléans who was Regent of France.  New Orleans is famous for its distinct French Creole architecture, cross cultural and multilingual heritage, food and music (being the birthplace of jazz). Each year it hosts musical celebrations and festivals, the Mardi Gras being the most well-known.
