Boise

The city of Boise is the capital of Idaho. It is also the most populated city in the state, with about 205,000 residents as of 2008. This makes Boise the third largest city in the Pacific Northwest and the largest city between Portland and Salt Lake City. The greater metropolitan area of Boise has a population of about 585,000.

Boise may be small, but it ranks high in quality of life. It was ranked among the ten top cities to live in in the 2007 edition of Frommer’s “Cities Ranked and Rated.” In 2009 Boise was noted as “One of the Best Places to Live” by U.S. News. Boise is also the headquarters for several large companies, including, URS Corp., Boise Cascade LLC, and Albertson’s LLC.
