Washington State

Washington State is located in the Pacific Northwestern area of the United States.  It was admitted to the union as the 42nd state in 1889 and the population is approximately 6.5 million people.  About 60% of Washington’s residents live in the Seattle metropolitan area.  Washington was originally named for George Washington, the first President of the United States and it is the only state named for a U.S. president.
